That's there's a stupid plot hole, the reason for the demon's deception was to have them take it to the Abby as it supposedly didn't know the location, when it could have slaughtered all of them and ****ed off to the Abby by itself around 1/3 of the film in, if not before.

Until the group mentioned exactly where they were going a few times. IIRC, Cage told the girl/demon directly where they were taking her to be tried and that he would make sure she received a fair trial early into the journey. I'd watch the first 20-25 mins again, but no.

If you are thinking about seeing this movie, see Black Death instead. It's essentially the same but it has Sean Bean being awesome, instead of Nic Cage hamming it up.
