Let's go with this: Takes place during the Watchmen movie. Manhattan does not want to die. He cannot see the future because of Ozy's scheme.
The wizards end him with avada kedavra. The spell removes the soul. He is literally dead, ended, nothing left to regen from.
The Jedi have nothing that would literally kill him.
Pretty simple.
