Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix 2011

Strikeforce announced a 8-man Grand Prix for the Strikeforce HW title. The bout will be:

Fedor Emelianenko vs Antonio "Big Foot" Silva
Andrei Arlovsky vs Sergei Kharitonov

Alistair Overeem vs Fabrico Werdum
Brett Rogers vs Josh Barnett

Now what a great tournament!

The first 2 fights will happen Feb 12, while the other 2 fights date and place are still to be announced, to what promises to be the greatest HW event of 2011. This remembers me so much of the good old Pride times 😊

Good lineup, but I would have preferred seeing Arlovski vs Barnett in the first round.

The thread says UFC/Pride, it doesn't say MMA

Well, they just have to win and fight in the semi-final. Anyway, I don't know but IMO Kharitonov is the favourite against Arlovsky so Barnett may end up fighting him.

This is awesome. I've always enjoyed tournament style events and I was afraid that Pride was the West's last hope for actually having them.

Tournaments are the closest thing MMA has to the "seasons" in other sports. It'll help newcomers get acquainted with the fighters and tournaments are just fun to follow.

It's like watching Tekken......without the robots and eye lasers. biscuits

and Big Foot finished off Fedor perfectly & he will gnp Overeem into hell.
Big Foot is the most underrated HW in all MMA and his time has finally come.
