The sun hit his hand and that was all it took for him to toss characters from like two Justice League incarnations and the JSA off of him like nothing and beat the hell out of Ion.

His powers nearly returned?? At one point that may have been the case in the comic but he was fighting the whole time using up his power, he was only saved when the sun came up and when the energy from the sun hit his hand making him at full power..
