That looks like the work of Mike Mignola (Hellboy)

He might not be to everyone's taste, but he is a good, interesting artist on certain projects. Just becasue he doesn't draw like Perez, Jimenez or Hitch doesn't make him bad.

Aha- the Secret Defenders art was Tom Grindberg. Not Grummet as I was remembering, but obviously something close to that had stayed in my memory as an artist to avoid.

It looks like it was inspired by Mike Mignola's style but getting some major things wrong.

Yeah, I saw Grindberg's name at the bottom. Either his pencils had been inked by Mike Mignola, or he was doing a Mignola imitation all by himself (result looks like a bizarre cross between Mignola & Rob Liefeld.)
