He didn't have any problems beating up Cho and breaking his ribs.
but i am not fully aware of the context.
i just viewing Thor as he normally acts and holds back with various opponents and making the leap of familial obligation he might have with Kevin which could give the kids a psychological edge.
i know Thor has stated to Loki in one of their old fights he held back and refused to do what was needed prior to his soul suck attack showing he does have some emotional connection which would limit him to some capacity.
Thor and Eric being bonded and sharing their life and memory via a soul merging Thor would view Kevin at least i would hope as family.
We know Thor was even willing to die and sacrifice himself 2 times to save kevin. i think this is why he may not fight at his best.

Since Thor's creation nearly 60 years ago, the last era has been his worst ever.
I blame Quesada and his lack of an editorial system. Writers can do whatever the hell they want. Which sucks for Thor because writers love using him as a measuring stick, but any half decent Thor writers cares little about having Thor beat Hulk and such.
I remember Shooter's interview about how Thor was considered Marvel's Superman and anyone portrayed as stronger than him was something that was frowned upon.

Well he kind of just saw Cho standing there next to the tree and had a major jump to conclusions moment. Which I do think was pretty off then went on some rant about how he needs to discapline the boy
