Then they are both pretty equal in battle experience.

I reckon Hicks just has the extra X-Factor over Rico.

Plus better rifles.

Rico can do flips, he can balance himself on a giant beetle-type creature while shooting and then blowing it up with grenades. He's more cartoon-ish, he wins.

BTW, when Dizzy dies in Rico's arms, it's probably the saddest moment in sad-movie-moments history.

Dizzy's death was the worst death ever onscreen.
