I think this comes down again to Mags can or cannot control the entire spectrum of light or better said will or won't control it.

Space Hitler was pretty impressive recently against the Weaponer.

Don't like him much? I'm still grumbling over that Mongul encounter. Would've been interesting to see what damage the Mongul Corps would've done.

Sinestro is an anti-hero now, no longer a chief threat to the Oans.
He's always been more anti-hero than villain, which is why he wasn't always convincing as a bad guy, a bit like BA.
