First,

(1) Why did the truck explode after the driver was shot and it fell on it's side?

And,

(2) I haven't watched the film in decades. For the DVD, did they black out the windows after the driver's bloody hand fell to the side?
(Because even as a kid, I could see the stuntman furiously turning the wheel through the dark windshield to make it capsize - even though the driver was supposed to have been shot dead by Indy.)

I am reading The Making of The Empire Strikes Back (great book BTW, it really shows the glory days when LUcas really knew what he was doing).

Now there's a scene that was cut from the opening of ESB which involved... errr.... well... the idea was that the probot lands on Hoth and when it comes out of its crater it shoots a..... a...... dare I say it???? ..... a snow chipmunk!!!!!

I guess Lucas saw a chance with the PT and TAOS to insert all the left over ideas from the OT days. There's so much stuff they came up with then, that was used in the PT... and now this damn groundhog/squirrel/chipmunk idea is also a left over... Why do you think they abandoned it then??? OMG...
