Is peoples "freedom" more important? You cannot feed the world without oil and industrial agriculture.

As oil prices rise starvation will ensue.

Speculation isn't the problem. Peak oil (which we hit around 2005) and surging demand from developing nations is. Oil is a finite resource, there is only so much to go around.

Everyone might get rationed food tablets instead of proper food in the future then, I think the astronauts devour such luxurious cuisine.
