I know it's nothing like the first one but if you release the same game as a sequel, I don't think I would be as interested.

I played the first Prey, and it was pretty generic and bland... this however looks expanded upon. I may give it a shot to impress me.

Yeah, the first only had the gravity aspect to it to make it somewhat interesting.

This looks much better. There are a few open ended FPS out there but I find them to have a few nagging problems (STALKER for instance). This looks like its put better together.

I thought that the original was one of the better launch titles honestly, although that is not saying much. 360's launch titles were crap for the most part. i'm willing to give this game a shot though. I'll probably rent it.

I coulda sworn it was. My bad.

But that makes the 360 launch titles even worse. I think Klonoa may have been one of the only ones I kinda enjoyed. I mainly played NFS: Most wanted til Oblivion came out.

Prey 2 Not Cancelled, Delayed For At Least Seven/Eight Months, Will Probably Be Cancelled Down The Line

Good news everyone! Prey 2 has not been cancelled. Bad news everyone! Prey 2 will not be releasing this year as planned, due to development failing to progress "satisfactorily this past year". That's the gist of a statement issued by Bethesda today, regarding the status of Prey 2.

"Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards," reads Bethesda's statement.

"Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule."

No release window for Prey 2 has been announced, but it's good to know that the game is still coming, even if it now ends up launching in 2013.

Just a heads up for those that think the game is cancelled.

I will say this though, Red Dead Redemption had a similar press release or rumour saying that the publishers weren't very pleased with the progress and quality of the game if I remember correctly.

Then it turned out to be yet another Rockstar AAA Blockbuster. I swear it's almost impossible for those guys to make a bad game.

Supposedly, the developers suspended work on the game for contract issues.

I will be very surprised if it ever gets released in this state. I'm sad because I was very interested in it. Prey was a pretty cool game but I thought this would be better than a corridor shooter again. I really dug the open world alien aspect that ties to the original game because I thought the setting could be very promising.
