I think im living this quote but how long will god mock me?

24 Because I have called and you refused,
I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,
25 Because you disdained all my counsel,
And would have none of my rebuke,
26 I also will laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when your terror comes,
27 When your terror comes like a storm,
And your destruction comes like a whirlwind,
When distress and anguish come upon you.
28 “ Then they will call on me, but I will not answer;
They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.
29 Because they hated knowledge
And did not choose the fear of the LORD,

This is one of those frustrating things about religion. God calls for you, but he doesn't tell you it's him. You're expected to believe in something you don't understand. You're expected to get it 😛

Im confused and im scared and i understand that its to late when you call to him out of desperation but i also understand that only he can help so i don't know what to do, maybe he is teaching me to fear him?

If your interest in repentance is genuine, He will know. Your link to God does not come with a manual, you can not be expected to know exactly what to do, when to do it. Ignorance is not a sin, so you should be safe 🙂

We all know the story of the crucifixion, where Jesus in their final moments assure the regretful that he is forgiven. In the end, he accepted God, and the gates to afterlife opened for him 😉

I do not think he is trying to teach you to fear him. I believe he is teaching you to live through your fear, to live despite it but also to accept rather than run from it.

God is not mocking you.

God totally is mocking you

Stop that. lol

god not answering = god exists and is making fun of you, in your time of need

I never knew these passages existed, but I loves em!

ah, the benevolence of the lord

Not cool -.-

Do not get stuck with these proverbs. If you intend to listen to the Bible, listen to all of it and not just this part. Then you will understand that no one part in the text decide your fate and that you certainly can not fall victim to text without context.

These proverbs are spoken by a woman of little significance that was rejected by the villagers, who refused to accept God. She is warning them about the danger of continuing refusing God. Here you have the whole lyric:

22. How long will you simple ones love your simple ways?
How long will mockers delight in mockery
and fools hate knowledge?
23. If you had responded to my rebuke,
I would have poured out my heart to you
and made my thoughts known to you.
24. But since you rejected me when I called
and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand,
25. since you ignored all my advice
and would not accept my rebuke,
26. I in turn will laugh at your disaster;
I will mock when calamity overtakes you—
27. when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind,
when distress and trouble overwhelm you.
28. Then they will call to me but I will not answer;
they will look for me but will not find me.
29. Since they hated knowledge
and did not choose to fear the Lord,
30. since they would not accept my advice
and spurned my rebuke,
31. they will eat the fruit of their ways
and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.
32. For the waywardness of the simple will kill them,
and the complacency of fools will destroy them;
33. but whoever listens to me will live in safety
and be at ease, without fear of harm.

God sounds like a dick.

After brief research through Google, the passages listed by the opening poster turned out not to be the word of God 😛

I see I should include 2 additional passages, just to clarify that it is in fact not the voice of God:

20. Wisdom calls aloud in the street,
she raises her voice in the public squares;
21. at the head of the noisy streets she cries out,
in the gateways of the city she makes her speech:

=) thank you

Happy to help 🙂
