3/10?
It's no Die Hard With A Vengeance but it it holds as a introduction for his son.
I guess these euro films leave people with a bad taste in their mouths.
SPOILER!
..........
-McClane catches a plane into Russia to save his son.
-Catches him amongst a conspiracy.
-Both team-up and destroy the conspiracy.
It doesn't get simpler than that.
simple....
If people wish John doing more than he does in this film then maybe they should pay attention to GI-Joe.
Weak villain/s.
Weaker dialogue.
Too much of McClane standing around, pissed and bewildered, yelling his son's name.
Jack is supposedly some badass CIA Crazy Prepared chessmaster and we don't see a lick of it.
Jack is too weak a character to stand next to McClane and hog as much spotlight as he did (Sam Jackson being the exception).
And holy fvck that was the longest and most boring chase scene in cinema history.
I stand by my grade, foo'.
The chase scene was epic!
And the dialogue was cheese ball as it gets. 🙂
What did you want? Jack kung-fuing his way through thugs?
He snapped a neck and shot his way through the enemy McClane style.
The film dealt with the idea of the father sensing bullshit a mile away and his son adapting later into the film quite well, personally.
The film never perceived Jack as some kind of chess master.....but did perceive John as a talented observer of his opponent's objectives.
And in the process taught Jack how to be a better spy.
Yeah, it did. I believe we're flat out told in the script Jack "always has a plan" or some such. I maintain that the movie sucked more than a warehouse of vacuum cleaners.
Anyways, I went back and tried to watch Die Hard 2 to see if 5's lameness would prompt a better appreciation for that shitfest but I had to cut it off halfway through. Stuart is laem in the extreme.
The Gruber brothers dominate this franchise.

He beat a chess master though.
Oh what a joyous day. McClane in MVF is now utterly trollproof.
Beats the shit out of Bauer, quite a few times over now, thats for sure.
That left hook still makes me lol...! Devastating..
