He's had some truly humiliating losses too. I'm not even talking about losing to the Infinity Gauntlet (which no one would blame him for). I'm talking about being manhandled by Nightmare, Bubonicus, etc...
On paper, he's in the top four along with Infinity, Death and Oblivion. On panel, he's a joke.

Why the writters at Marvel want to make Eternity look bad so often is perplexing to me; maybe its because they can simutaneously drum up some enthusiasm for a given villian by making Eternity its punching bag, putting the universe at risk, and giving the hero something "epic" to do in the process (thereby making the hero relevant to the story)...
Thats got to be it as logic dictates that Eternity should be beyond confronting by some of the guys who have confronted him...
Would you agree that Eternity should be only a notch below the Infinity Gauntlet?

It depends on how you see him. He's been retconned so many times it's ridiculous.
Originally he was EVERYTHING in the universe that Death was not. That Eternity should most definitely be only a notch below the IG.
However then came Infinity and Oblivion. Then Eternity became the Supreme Time Being, Infinity became the Supreme Space Being they along with Death and Oblivion represent the entire universe. This Eternity should be SEVERAL notches below the IG.
Currently it's a mess with the whole "multi-" Eternity, Death, etc.. crap 🙁
