Nah in that issue he shrunk himself and Absorbing Man into subatomic particles.
It didn't work then he expanded outside the bounds of reality into Overspace.
Kinda like realigning your assemblage point into a different plane of existence. Like what the Toltec Indian Shamans claim to do.
The experience sent Absorbing Man mad. Pym has already conditioned his mind to such degrees of insanity/sanity and could handle it.
Later it was stated it was a dangerous feat not only for Pym's mind but his particles.

Vril Dox and his son had to teamup to defeat him. Vril admitted he couldn't do it alone. 12th level intellect and all. Plus he has the knowledge and tech from across the universe. He's pretty stacked.
