I'm sorry but every sequel usually looks like the previous game. Why? Because it uses the same engine.Outside of the trailer, you have no idea what the game will include.
what about bf3. j/k. i know it's usually the case but it's been a half decade since 4, tech has advanced, look at what they did with l.a. noire and they have money hands over fist so you'd think it'd at least look not as similar. and so far generally every gta game has been kinda the same crime sim it's always been. it almost seems like it's going the way of cod in terms of playability, to me..
but as you say, who knows what innovation, if any, will come with the game..
we'll just have to wait and see.
I would agree with you if a GTA game was released every year but it will be 4 years this upcoming April since the last GTA game was released so you can really say it's like COD.
But in reality, GTA games will always be the same and I don't think people will want it too change. There are plenty of things that the series can improve on so I don't really see it as an issue.

4 years since the last makes even more, all the more reason for something to change for the better.
and you think poeple won't want it to change? i disagree. case in point: call of duty and gow for example.
I read something about the team that worked on Mafia 2 are doing this sequel
Hmmmmmm helping Rockstar out
According to the article, I don't think the game is being co-developed. I assume 2K Czech is working on something small, or something that involves their expertise.
A lot of developers do this. If you look at the credits, most games have other studios contracted out to help them in certain areas like helping with driving physics or something like that.
2k Czech is a good developer. I enjoyed Mafia 2 and I'm replaying the first game on Steam and while a bit dated, still quite enjoyable.
I liked it.
It's not like GTA. It's a linear game. You can explore the city if you want but there isn't activities to do or anything like that.
But I enjoyed it. The graphics are quite nice, the shooting is pretty spot on (cover gets chipped away and such), the story I enjoyed quite a bit and the atmosphere is fantastic. If you like Mafia, I would think you would like the second one. It's an more forgiving game to play.
Whenever the next sale would be, I betcha this game will be like $5 so you can't really go wrong with it.
