I haven't seen this yet, but I just finished reading Michael Crichton's Congo. Great book. That should be the prequel to Planet of the Apes, lol... (Haven't watched Congo the movie yet, will soon.. I think i saw it long ago and it was pretty bad, heh...)
But alas its not since Planet Of The Apes was based on a novel from a French guy.

Fox To Push Ahead With "Best Supporting Actor" Oscar Campaign For Andy "Caesar" Serkis!
Finally saw this (couldn't catch it in the movie theater) and I gotta say that it made me feel fuzzy and warm as the Ape fan that I am, Caesar needs an Oscar.
The casting was unorthodox -I wouldn't expect much from pretty much any of the actors- but it worked very well with the film and never felt off, the special effects were wisely used and the film had just the right pacing. Good to see them work well with the classic concepts.

I'd be interested if they did a race for supremacy for a very limited number of well armed humans against the more abundant Ape race. It could develop into something interesting, but I agree the direct consequence of this movie isn't an straight confrontation.
So I finally saw this. I will say, it was surprisingly well done. I enjoy it. Found myself pretty captivated the whole time, and wouldn't mind seeing it continued (and looking at the box office success, it probably will be).
That being said, there was something that kind of took me out of the movie and made it completely unbelievable. I thought it was completely preposterous, absolutely ridiculous that Freida Pinto was single. Just can't accept that. And then he uses some cheesy fvcking line and is instantly in bed with her. Really stupid. lol. That and they should have integrated some real actors in real practical monkey special FX suits instead of all-CGI. Also, the Malfoy-esque chimp bully was kind of lame, but otherwise this is a surprisingly impressive piece of work.

I felt the whole CGI look to be more real then someone in a ape suit. It may have worked in 1968 the ape suits but this is 2012 and on top of that WETA was involved can't believe your complaining about it 😬
I admit that the CGI worked better than expected and that real monkey suits wouldn't have helped the parts that didn't work all that well, but still, there's no replacing real life images. The human mind knows the difference. Do you remember the amazing prosthetic work in the Tim Burton film?
But what the f*ck is WETA?
