I have no problem with him having political views... it helps me understand his thoughts more. I think a lot of those 70s stories were great for exactly those reasons. He may have moved to the left or right but it is nothing like the 50s/60s era where he was a mascot for traditional right-wing values. Since then they've at least explored his thoughts a bit more.
