Katana's are actually heavy for their length due to the thickness of the blade that's required due to a combination of the hardened edge/soft backing and poor quality iron deposits in Japan requiring sturdier construction for a cutting tool.
As Nemebro pointed out, Arming swords, short, single handed secondary weapons, are lighter and longer than katanas.
The cutting power of a blade depends on a lot of things, as well. Like the bevel, for example. A fine bevel will cut through soft material easier but deform and quickly dull on anything more solid. Like armour.
I happen to be a history nerd.
Okay?
Right. What flea market sells blades? I've heard of pawns shops but never a flea market. Is that where you go? More power to you.
Yes yes and after all that, a basic fighting Katana is only 3 lbs at the most. Soooooo.....
He is wrong and so are you.
Aware of that.

I am sorry, why are you comparing a great sword and a katana? Since greatswords (Such as a Zweihander for example) are heavier, yeah, but also much longer. Your comparison is horrible, and no. Zweihanders can **** up chainmail. Something a katana cannot do.No you said some of. I disputed that claim.
It was a typo. I copy and pasted "great" on accident.
Some of one of, same thing.
