Then, he gets an agonizing and sudden amputation and then a very powerful blast of Force lightning sends him out into the dark.
Out of energy, physically exhausted, mentally stunned, almost.
Then the time that passes by, in which he doesn't have the reclaimed energy to use the Force to gradually slow his fall.
And, splat.
A Jedi with the energy and focus to spare, can save himself from a long fall.
A Jedi who doesn't have those things at his disposal..
