Konami HD Collections: Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Zone of Enders

I decided to make one thread for these HD collections. Since pretty much each game has it's own thread I thought it'll be redundant to make separate threads for each Collection, specially since they're all Konami titles

though I guess anyone can make a separate thread 😬

The Silent Hill: Book of Memories game for PSVita should get it's own thread though, as I think Downpour does 🙂

E3 2011: Konami's Big Announcements
Metal Gear, Zone of the Enders and every other piece of news from today.

Rather than hold all or its huge announcements until next week, Konami released its pre-E3 press conference today for fans to bask in. The hour-long video is embedded below, and it's followed by our breakdown of each and every story contained within it. There's news on Metal Gear Solid: Rising, a Zone of the Enders HD Collection, and so much more. Click away and live the E3 madness today.

Silent Hill Collection, NGP Title Announced
Remakes and new-makes.

Konami's pre-E3 show pulls back the curtain on three different Silent Hill releases coming down the pipeline.

For the nostalgic, Konami has bundled Silent Hill 2 and 3 into an HD package called Silent Hill Collection. These two titles are getting the high-definition upgrade, so a whole new audience can enjoy these horror classics. No release date has been announced.

Exclusively for the new NGP handheld from Sony, Konami is developing Silent Hill: Book of Memories. They did not reveal any details about this handheld horror. A disclaimer over the game's logo states "This game has not been concept approved by Sony Computer Entertainment of America."

The biggest focus of Konami's Silent Hill presentation shows off Silent Hill: Downpour. This new entry into the series follows Murphy Pendleton, a prisoner who escapes a wrecked bus and finds himself stranded in Silent Hill. A new trailer shows off the eerie additions to this new title, including the creepy mailman who helps direct Murphy through the town and the mystery. ...

Metal Gear Solid & Zone of Enders HD collection revealed

Zone of the Enders is coming back in glorious HD format! Both Zone of the Enders games are being remastered in HD and is hitting the PlayStation 3 AND Xbox 360. Zone of the Enders will be out in 2012.

As for the Metal Gear Solid HD collection, it will include Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. The MGS collection will be out this November. This will also hit the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Konami states that these HD version isn't an emulator. It's optimized and rebuilt specifically for the PS3 and Xbox 360. There's a new user interface, redrawn high-res 2D art, new trophies and Achievements and improved audio quality.

Additionally, both collections will have a new feature called "Transfarring." Yes, it's really spelled that way. Transfarring will allow PlayStation 3 and PSP owners to share one save that works between the two versions of Peace Walker. So far that will be the only game that works with Transfarring. The feature is also in the Zone of the Enders HD collection but Konami wouldn't detail why exactly. Possible PSP or NGP releases coming?

So there you go everyone can experience the beauty and awesomeness of MGS3, and tolerate MGS2 as everyone who played it before had to 😐

I'm excited Peace Walker gets the HD treatment as well, though I own a PSP, I never got around to playing the game... too bad Portable Ops isn't in on the deal... that would have been perfect

and yay for Silent Hill!!!

... also Zone of Enders 🙂

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Sold Separate?
In Japan, the MGS three-pack is now a two-pack; PSN/XBLA releases also considered.

In Konami's 2011 Pre-E3 Show, Hideo Kojima announced the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, a package of HD remakes combining Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (the PSP game released in 2010.) For the Japanese market, however, this triple pack is broken up across two different packages according to a listing on the Kojima Productions website. PlayStation Store and Xbox Live downloadable versions of all three games also appear to be planned, making for a la carte buying.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker: HD Edition will be released in Japan on November 11th for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game has been rebuilt on these platforms (rather than just running an emulation of the PSP game,) with Trophies/Achievements to unlock, 1080p HD graphics to enjoy, and dual-analog control to make the game more playable. The PS3 version also uses the "Transfarring" feature to allow cross-platform play with the PSP version of the game. Multiplayer co-op features from the PSP game will be carried over to the console games.

Metal Gear Solid: HD Edition includes high-definition remasterings of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Both games have been customized for a widescreen aspect ratio, and they are also bumped up to 720p HD and will run at 60 FPS. In Japan, the PS3 version of the package also includes a free download code to get the original PlayStation version of Metal Gear Solid 1 downloadable from the PlayStation Store Game Archives section.

It is unknown if Konami is considering any of these options for the North American versions of Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

HD Remasters of Metal Gear Solid HD by Bluepoint Games.
The development team behind God of War and World of Ico remasterings is also handing MGS.

On Konami's Kojima Productions page for the Japanese version of Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, it was confirmed that developer Bluepoint Games will be handling the HD conversion of these PlayStation 2 titles for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 remasterings.

Bluepoint has garnered acclaim for its impressive work in making God of War I & II look even more amazing than the PS2 counterparts in the God of War Collection (released in 2008.) The team has since been courted as a premier specialist in HD conversions, and was chosen to handle the upcoming ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD remasterings.

No developer is credited on the tandem remaster package Zone of the Enders HD Collection, which Kojima Productions itself may or may not be handling.

It's cool that they are releasing them.

But unless the add MGS4 control scheme to them, I'm not going to even try to play them. MGS pissed the ****ed out of me.

How about they remaster and rerelease the first two Metal Gear games instead? Or at least add MSX support on Virtual Console in North America?

Looks alright. I was thinking about whether to get the HD collection or Downpour but because I'm getting some Homecoming vibes from it, I think I'll get what made the Silent Hill franchise good.

YES! You can play them if you get subsistance, so the translated game exists....idk, they should make that a download or something.

I am a really big mgs fan and all, but honestly...I think they need to put it on the shelf and work on something else. Kojima IS, working on other things, like a new graphics engine, so awesome! But I want to see what other NEW games he can come up with.

Yeah, I've got subsistence and enjoy that second disk a hell of a lot more than the NES games.

If I were Konami and I really wanted to please fans and milk the franchise, I would put out a disk called "Metal Gear: Solid Snake". It would feature four canon missions: a remake of the first Metal Gear blending elements from both the MSX and NES version for a longer mission, a canon remake of Snake's Revenge, a canon remake of Ghost Babel, and a remake/remaster of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. As extras/unlockables, I'd put in an image gallery and ports (not emulations) of the original NES, MSX, and GBC versions of the games. You then slap on a sticker claiming some anniversary and saying that it's the complete career of Solid Snake with Foxhound, release a limited special edition with an art book and soundtrack cd and you've got an instant best seller.

I'm gonna grab all of these. I loved them all the first time around. they should be even more enjoyable in HD. MGS is my favorite franchise.

My brother's sure gonna pick the MGS collection, so I'll probably end up replaying it, but I'm sure as hell picking up the SH Collection as I never finished SH2 nor ever played SH3

so I heard 🙂

I only got halfway through SH2, and the SH3 got scratch so couldn't play it

I'm gonna now

well...Metal Gear Solid HD Collection contains MGS3: Subsistence

The packaging says that you're getting Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, but that's not quite true. The reality is a little sweeter, as Hideo Kojima has confirmed that you're actually getting Metal Gear Solid: Subsistence.

For those who don't know, Subsistence is an enhanced version of Snake Eater. As well as the regular game, it also contains the MSX versions of the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2. That's like, two extra games, man.

The Japanese version of the game is going to be different. It won't, for example, include Peace Walker, but instead has a product voucher for the PSOne Classic Metal Gear Solid. Weird!

not a remake, but they do include the MSX originals 😄

Had a look at the Silent Hill collection it does'nt include the first game, But yet Konami has manage to include the first game for the Metal Gear Solid collection

😬

"Including MGS2 and MGS3"

Does that mean NOT MGS1 - you know, the best game in the damn series? 😬

I think you misread something.

Possibly.
So there is a HD MGS1?

If that's the case I apologize for my minor outburst. 😛

Whoa, ZOE!

No MGS, neither the ps1 original nor Twin Snakes

It is just MGS2 & 3 and Peace Walker (and the original MG and MG2 included with MGS3)

I Japan is different, though. MGS is included as a download voucher with MGS2 and MGS3, but there's no Peace Walker.

PW has is own separate disc, so I guess we get a better deal here

Thats strange when they're also releasing Peace Walker seperatly.

AFAIK, the only MGS 1 is the one in the store, which is the original, unaltered MGS from PSX.

Here in Canada, we have the collection in our store, and like SDJ said it's 2, 3 and Peace Walker.
