STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- City in the Clouds

Well, I meant more if there's a way up from inside the facility, but you make a point...Rianna's pretty speedy and agile, and I'm sure if she made a run for it and got close enough that it couldn't aim at her she could simply climb up.

You could go both ways. Inside the facility, there are a few lifts and a plentiful amount of ladders and stairwells. Otherwise, you could run along the top of the dome to reach the base of the tower. Either route has pros and cons.

Going through the inside has the chance at getting completely lost (or ambushed); going over the rooftops has the chance of getting shot at.

Going the outside route and running like hell (and trying to not go with a strictly straight path to throw off whoever's up there) might be the better idea.

And you are okay with exposing yourself to impending cannon fire?

Rianna's fairly confident that she can move quicker and more agile-ly (hence the not sticking to a completely straight path I mentioned) than they can re-aim at her.

What is your plan for getting back out onto the dome?

The turbolasers are designed to work at a range and the landing pad is just far enough for them to hit you well. The closer you get, the more difficulty they will have.

They are also energy-based Heavy Weapons, in terms of damage to individuals.

Are there any other ways back out there from inside the facility?

Aside from the landing pads, you aren't sure. It would take some searching.

Hmmm.

Well Rianna's not too keen on wasting time searching, and she doubts that whoever is up there is going to expect her to come back out again. So a mad dash across the landing pad sounds like the most likely option at this point.

Fair enough!

The fire on the landing pad is mostly out at this point and it is more or less intact. Just very badly scorched and cratered. The minute you return to it, the turbolaser begins to swivel back toward it to lock on to you.

It will be a Leaping roll to get up onto the dome, and an Agility check to see if you get vaporized or not. From the landing pad, it will be three more checks to see if you get hit.

Leaping and Agility are both things that Rianna is very good at, so that's fine.

Ruuuuuuun!

Getting this started, Rianna takes a running leap up onto the dome without a problem! With her Defense factored in, the turbolaser has a pool of five. A single success is measly, but Rianna rolls none in return so she takes 3 damage as the bolt skims and splinters the edge of the dome.

Moving closer at full sprint, Rianna pitches herself forward into an awkward dive UP the dome when the next blast comes in. They match each other, and so Rianna evades the turbolaser. Instead it tears into the dome just behind her, causing some of her footing to warp as she presses on.

On the final roll, Rianna throws herself into a leap toward the turbolaser, sailing just over the next blast. This one misses and simply takes another chunk out of the dome.

You made it with minimal damage to yourself. You are now in the 'courtyard' at the bottom of the tower, which is lined with air filtering equipment and atmospheric sensors and all sorts of other technical junk. The turbolasers, each the size of a small house, are in the courtyard as well.

The tower is at the center and is a tall gray cylinder. There are only windows at the very top. At the bottom, there are maintenance hatches for access.

Rianna's going to open a hatch and enter the tower, then.

Senses still all weird?

Yes.

The inside of the tower is mainly a spiral staircase. On one side of the cylindrical tower is a lift. You can see clear to window canopy that encloses the top of the tower from the bottom of the stairs.

Rianna will try the lift.

It has been called to the top and will not come down.

Damnit, should have known...

Stairs, then.

About halfway up the stairs, you notice a dark figure lean over the railing above and look down at you.

"You should not have come here," Vash says calmly.

"And you should have known that I would track you down eventually," Rianna replies a bit less calmly, keeping her lightsaber in her hand.

"I knew you would," Vash says, stepping slowly toward the stairs. He whips off his outer cloak in a flourish and hangs it over the handrail. "But you shouldn't have. You won't be able to save your family."
