Also, why would this make news to begin with? It's trivial, so I'd assume it's to further gloat or an attempt to alienate religious fanatics from him.

He would have had plenty of time "by himself" especially since he could give others a "do not disturb until I'm down faping...I mean sending these e-mails out" orders.
He could have had the monitor turned around towards a corner at the opposite side of the room ...and fapped under his robes...under the desk?
Or the porn could have belonged to one of his subordinates that had access to the computer?
There's lots of possibilities.

Actually there is nothing odd about that idea at all. He had privacy, he had porn, and presumably he had a working penis.

The point isn't about him wanking off, it's about him getting time to download and watch porn.
If he did indeed have computers, wouldn't they be used for plotting terrorist attacks, sending out orders and such instead of looking for porn which risks viruses and makes their computers vulnerable to attack and maybe location.
Or maybe he telepathically gave orders. Or maybe he gave no orders at all and thus was free to surf the porn sites all day/every day, then download them to a hard drive....it's a mystery.

It's incredibly easy to find downloadable porn on the Internet and remain virus free. Torrents plus a blocklist, or a fileshare search engine + account. There are entire forums dedicated to indexing porn online for easy download.

I'd think that he'd have a crap-load of time to surf porn considering he was at that compound for years. He wasn't very active, especially towards the end of his life. I'm sure his bodyguards would leave him alone if he told them to being loyal religious zealots and all.
Also, plotting attacks would take less time than an 9 to 5 job. Some of the terrorist attacks seem like they had very little foresight or planning. You know? Even the 9-11 attacks were fairly simple: go to America, get American flight school training, and set a date and time to fly planes in the WTCs and Pentagon around the same time. The only planning required is setting a date and time and exchanging cell phone numbers once they got to America. This overlooks them having to look up the coordinates of those locations on maps, of course. But a bit of training and the resources in flight school make accomplishing their respective tasks much easier.
Edit - Yeah, as long as you are decent with computers, there's no reason you should get a virus on your computer from things like porn. No torrents required.

For quite a few terrorists (usually the lower ranking members, from poorer nations) that's exactly what it is - their joining has less to do with ideology and more to do with practicality. They get paid for their work and send the money back to their families.
Why do you find it hard to believe that he had free time, btw? Or that he was a hypocrite who watched porn? It all seems to fit if you ask me...hypocrisy and extremism (of any kind) seem to go hand-in-hand.

While I do agree that bin Laden probably had a lot of down time and fapped because of that, it is utterly ridculous to think that launching a terrorist attack on the U.S, especially one of the magnitude of 9/11, is something that would take less planing than an average 9-to-5 job

Downloading porn doesn't take a lot of time; in fact, I could be downloading a porn clip or full porn feature while typing this reply, or working on a term paper, playing a video game or even planning a terrorist attack.
As far as watching it, I'm sure he could make some time here and there, I highly doubt he was busy running his cells 100% of his time, I'm sure he delegated much of the lower level functions to his trusted people.

It does not. Especially when you consider how easy it was to smuggle things like binary explosives, knives, and so forth on planes at the time. Additionally, their plans actually seemed disorganized and haphazard.

I think you give him too much credit.
How hard is it to look up how to make a fertilizer bomb (or use some plastique), make the bomb, and then put it in a truck and blow it up outside of a building?
Since the recipes for such bombs can be found on the internet, are known to some ex-military that joined his causes, and require little time in the grand scheme, it requires very little thinking. The maximum amount of thinking required is just setting the bomb off during the day to get the maximum causalities. Oh, and finding a zealot willing to die.
What the American people did not want to hear was how easy it is to actually commit terror acts against the US. It's still easy. It's just not as easy.
Terror attacks are not like they are depicted in Hollywood. They aren't some elaborate genius level plans. I am quite sure that you could come up with a terror attack that makes all the others look childish in complexity especially if you gave it 6 hours of attention for one month straight.

All this proves it that people are not aware how very simple committing acts of terror are: even one on such a "scale" as the 9-11 attacks. It makes people feel more comfortable thinking that the reason the US was attacked with such devastation was due to some brilliant and genius level planning. That's simply not the case.
