I don't recall any other instance where anybody with the Mind Gem ever failed against Thanos.

Are you sure Warlock made Thanos' mind unreadable? Dialogue is pretty iffy with that.

After Thanos' dialogue with Moondragon, explaining how Warlock made the other member's minds unreadable...

Moondragon says: "speaking of looking into minds...I can't read yours either."

Thanos replies: "of course not, I am Thanos."

It's wierd Moondragon would be surprised she couldn't read Thanos' mind after his explanation, and even weirder that Thanos attributed her failure to his own abilities, not Warlock's doing.

Despero is still no match for thanos. HEs compareable in strength but damage soak sucks on Desperos part.

I'm not aware of any such instance. Thanos beat a pre-Infinity Watch Moondragon in a telepathic battle.

Warlock made every Infinity Watch member's mind unreadable. Moondragon explains that, then mentions by coincidence that Thanos' mind is unreadable. Thanos smirks. It was a blatant clue that Thanos was the then-unrevealed paladin of the Reality Gem.
