300 vs Battle of Helms Deep

Hopefully the moderator will allow this:

Instead of the Elves reinforcing the pitiful defenses of Helms Deep, the Spartans reinforce Helms Deep instead of defending Thermopalyae. The Uruk-Hai breach the wall and the 300 form a phalanx - victory or defeat?

Is this just the 300, or the 300+the other Men?

And will Gandalf still come to bail them out?

300 could likely hold that causeway and the main castle gate for some time. Once the Uruks blast the wall and start coming from all sides, they'd go down to superior numbers. Though the death to kill ratio would likely favor the Spartans.

If Gandalf is in the mix, they'd likely hold the castle until he cums.

The Uruks wouldn't be booking it like the Persians. They have more body mass and less regard for personal harm, and they're ferociously aggressive. Numbers would do the Spartans in eventually, but if they can maintain their backs against a corner, the K/D spread would be incredible.

However, it depends how many of them are blasted away when the wall explodes. They'll be overwhelmed if they are in the open.

Mmmmm................I say that the Spartans fall.

It's possible Leonidas and a few others would survive till Gandalf saves the day.

That's only because his rage and love of Orc blood.

The Spartans won't be able to form a phalanx on the walls, which is their most effective advantage. But then again the Spartans are much more capable than the boys and old men who were defending Helms Deep.

I dunno. They're out of their element here imo.

It depends on how you see it, imo the breach in helms deep could in some way have a resemblance to the same pass where the 300 held their ground. If they can hold that and prevent the Uruk's from entering the K/D ration will be incredible. Also the keep itself seemed to have multiple intersections were the way the 300 fights will come to it's full potential. The last door that the Uruks was breaking down for instance would also be a great spot for the Spartans.

If it had been the 300 with the elves reinforcing Helms Deep I actually see the defenders hold. Screw Gandalf 😛

The 300 aren't going to eradicate the entire army but i'm sure they could hold out rather easily until day break.

The reason why the 300 were effective was because of the locale.

They die here once the Uruk climb the walls and start attacking from all angles.

nah...there were only a few hundred men at Helms deep. The elves did nothing but slow the urukis progress. Not to mention that in the book there werent even any elves.

Really?......I thought there were alot more. Well in that case the average Spartan is far more skillful than a soldier of Middle Earth. So therefore they should win. 🙂

Far more skilled than Rohan soldiers. Dont start with Gondor ;-)

But yeah, Helms Deep functons with a giant wall, when breached, a massive number of chokepoints. You had teens and men 50+ defending ti, most of the able bodied men were with Eomer and Gandalf.

And Janx is right, there were originally no elves at Helms Deep, they got a couple hundred more men who were maybe in their 30's. Gondor reinforcements would have been able to last far easier than Rohans.
