Forgive me if my memory is faulty, but wasn't Trance Kuja the guy who destroyed Terra? An entire planet, in other words?

He didn't blow it up completely, FFIX Ultimecia (canon source from SE) states that the planet was destroyed largely in less than a day. And the planet was around 70-80% of the size of Earth then.
