It wasn't even a big deal when we had our first woman PM
whatever prejudice the political system in Canada may have against minorities, it isn't something that will play out with the voting public. Calgary, one of, if not the, most conservative city in Canada recently elected a Muslim mayor. Our culture doesn't really have that type of racism.
A better question in our context would be, "will Canada ever have a PM from a northern territory" or "will Canada ever have a PM that is Native".

Im saying now but within lets says 10 to 20 years time because by that time the ethnic minorities in both countries would have grown hugely to around 25% or 30% by then.So could it be a possibility?
Black politicians in Canada are pretty rare across the politcal spectrum.
However, there are numerous politicians of descent from the Indian sub-continent at both the provincial and federal levels in provinces such as Ontario and BC.
So I could see them as a possibility one day for PM.
Originally posted by majid86It could happen quite easily... Most of the British public would have no problem voting for someone of a different race.

Diane Abbott put herself foreward to be leader of the Labour party. Had she won she would have probably been our next Prime Minister (It's just too bad that she's a bit of an annoying gobshite... so her party chose someone else......... who is probably more annoying.).

"You stupid dickhead..."

Oh shit...that's just great. It's funny cause it's been a while since I've seen adults use that kind of language with each other.
It reminds me of Arnold Schwarzenegger saying, 'You sonuva b*tch!" on one of the various sound boards./

who cares? Why does it matter, unless you're racist?
This.
Assuming all subcultures are the same, you'd see equal "ethnic" representation in public office.
That's not happening so it's a legit question. Is it subculture that prevents, say, African Americans from having a 13% representation in politics? (That's fairly easy to figure out: just add up all the blacks and then all the other races...then see if the blacks have 13% representation in government...question answered).
That's for Canada, btw. Not sure about America.
