I mean, who could even predict Buu's turning? Buu never threatened Babidi before, and followed his every command, but when he finally decided to bite, it was a decisive, fatal attack...

Babidi underestimated Buu, and I think just about any other telepath would do the same, because Buu's behavior makes him easy to underestimate.
