PIS vs Other Showings
okay, this issue has come up so often in the forum, that i thought it deserved a thread to try and work through. we often hear PIS cited--TOO often, imho. FAR too often. what IS PIS, really? i've always viewed it as an outlier showing so far removed from typical showings that it needs to be disregarded. spidey vs firelord is the usual standard. most say it's because spidey should not be able to harm FL in any way. and while that's true, i think what makes it PIS is that spidey has never beaten anyone on that level, 1on1 before or since. no one really even very close to FL. however, if he DID, then the showing would no longer be such an outlier, and might not be viewed as PIS. least imo.
so, below are some commonly discussed feats. are they PIS? not sure. i think the best way to PROVE they aren't, is to show OTHER feats by said character that prove the feat is not a one-off, outlier, and hence, is not PIS. of course, the more feats that are comparable to said feat, the less likely the feat can be labelled PIS.
i'll start off with a couple. feel free to add others and challenge people to prove the feats of their faves are NOT really PIS.
1. thor lifting the migard serpent
2. hal's krona buster
3. strange, unprepped, battling a tribunal amped inbetweener
4. connor kent matching/harming SBP
5. pre-WWH one-shotting an asteroid 2x the size of earth
i KNOW i left a bunch out. feel free to add your own. if you don't think the above are PIS, prove it. 🙂
