Glads is more skillful/effective fighter of the two if you take away thor's hammer.

Herc has never match the destructive ability of Glad's strikes. Now has he ever shown the type of speed (not even close).

Slugfest to me = punch kicked and not a grappling match where herc has a edge in.

Glads for the majority but Herc makes him earn each one.

Due to using living lightning as Gladiator was overconfident and standing over his foe. It's like saying Obi Wan destroyed Maul and ignoring Maul beat him in combat and then stood over him taunting him.

Gladiator hits harder and is skilled enough for this not to be an issue along with being more durable.
