Would Sidious have let Luke kill him in ROTJ?

You know in ROTJ when Luke brings his lightsaber out to kill the emperor but Darth Vader blocks him? If Vader hadn't done that, would Sidious have actually let Luke kill him?

sure he would have. he's a pretty nice guy. plus now knowing that he had the DE clone backup, what quicker way to let Luke fall to the dark side than have him cut down one of sidious's older bodies with hatred?

FOr Vader to block the attack. However, had Vader not blocked the attack I doubt Palpatine would have been able to really do anything.
