As a person of partly Native American heritage. I have to laugh at the many, many attempts to make Wendigo, Bigfoot, skinwalker, etc. as the main monster in Horror/Supernatural/Sci-Fi movies and shows. Not one of them is scary or intimidating to me. As a child I remember sitting down with my great grandfather when he told us as kids these types of scary tales. They worked because we were children and partly because of the unknown. The fundamental problem with films that tackle this subject matter is the point of view. Many movies or themes have someone being possessed or harassed by these spirits. We see from the perspective of the monster. You know what I mean; camera looking at the hot sexy young naked people from the woods with predator vision. At that point, I am either turning the tv off or laughing my ass off. Second, there is too much over explaining where and how. Did the exorcist try to explain everything about the spirit that possessed Reagan. No, and it did not try see from the perspective of the spirit... we did not see the spirit chasing around Reagan at school and trying to find out if she was possession worthy. If your going to make a horror or supernatural/sci-fi movie with a native american mythological monster/spirit. Don't overexplain its motives or try to show its perspective. Otherwise, its comedy to the native americans who see it. 😄
