At the very least, I hope the writers will utilize the decades long back log of stories for an interesting plot and villain.

There are sooooo many more interesting villains and story plots than Christianity, Heaven, and Hell.

Yeah, the Spear of Destiny thing was a little obvious, but I guess it's kind of the holy grail or ark of the Covenant. But yeah, I hope they go a little more wild and creative like Temple of Doom. 😎

^^^Its time to let the REAL star of the show take center stage…:

The world needs to know: is Keanu going to cut his hair for this?

Sounds like Francis Lawrence spoke about this recently...

Seems like good news....

Takes some amount of balls to say that stand-alone scripts would have to be "something special" to even get made outside the new DCU when the stand-alone movies released during the DCEU were leagues above anything in it and were vastly more successful.

^^^Not the biggest load of Bull I e ever heard re: DC, but pretty good.

I guess the thinking is assuming that their string of DCU films would be the biggest draws to the theater, so anything to be worth distracting from that has to be tip-top.

Of course that's a big assumption, but I guess I get the sentiment.

Their stand-alone stuff was given room to breath with real filmmakers while the DCEU stuff was ruined by too much studio tampering. I'd like to think that Gunn will do much better.

^^^Agreed, I’m hoping the same.

Guardians 2 showed he isn't great at resisting studio interference.

I always liked the early Constantine stuff best, perhaps my fave arc was the lay line fascist one. But it was a very UK plt, John laying low with new age travellers etc.

They should recast Daniel Craig as John Constantine and do a proper British based film.

There, I said it.

needs someone younger, around 30 and start with updates of old plots. No reason Mucus membrane can't be a band from 10 years ago. You could lift the early arcs almost verbatim. Replace Thatcher with Boris and Brexit, Reagan with Trump. It would work perfectly.

Dan Stevens would do a good Constantine.

Boooo..

The blond hair and jacket doesn't look good, imo. Keanu fits the character perfectly. Let him keep it.

Those annoying brits have so much! Let us have this... lol

They're planning to more fully embrace the R rating this time. F#CK yes!

Good thing you haven't written the comics then

there's a reason why its worked for 35+ years.

On screen, Kaz. The comics, sure, it's fine. But imo it doesn't look good on screen.

^^^I'm not a “everything has to be R to be good” guy, but in this case, it’d be nice for them to have that leeway.

^^^Matt Ryan made that shit work!
