Johnny can't go super nova:
1. Without Sue's shield, Reed says going Nova can destroy the Earth.
2. Lets say he does it anyway, GL's have been unaffected when next to the heat of the sun, and thats just with their "normal" "protective aura".
Thing can't even touch the airborne Lanterns. And he has no way of resisting being picked up by a giant hand and just thrown out of the battlefield.
