By an Avatar of Death yes.
Thanos being an avatar of death had nothing to do with him being able to grab Marv by his pencil-neck and own him.

He could do the same to Superman. Darkseid has owned him with a slap before.

Who's to say Thanos' status doesn't only grant him the ability to kill the unkillable but also scare the shit out of them whilst doing it?

Thanos' vast array of powers continues to grow...

You don't ever give him credit.

I thought it was made pretty clear that Magus didn't destroy those planets unaided... If that's the 'massive power up' you were referring to.

Anyway, Marv likely wins unless Supes grabs him by the neck. That's his weak spot, apparently.

But if Magus actually did it, that would have made him amped by the Church's prayers.

been a while since I read it, but I recall it being Magus

.

That reminds me of the foot fetish porn we found in a motel room one day.

Magus triggered the detonation, but he was being amped by "trillions of true believers" at the time--unamped, his power is nowhere near that level. That's important because when Marv killed him, he was no longer being amped--as said believers were, obviously, dead.

Hmm, sometimes you get things right Galan.

Either way, he still wiped out a being who was far above Nova, smacked away Quasar easily, and Mar-Vell rocked Evil Quasar (who was equal to Nova/Quasar) when he killed Magus. Him and Evil Quasar were the only ones who stood up to the blast with no ill effects, and then Mar-Vell comes along and makes them look like children
The amp would have put the feat on a completely nother level, but it doesn't matter.

Regardless if he was amped or not... One shotting Magus is still an impressive feat...

Like I said, Superman's only hope is grabbing Marv by the neck. It's like grabbing a Saiyan by the tail--all their power inextricably goes away.

Sans that, Marv wins.

Superman isn't as strong as Thanos.
