Spoiler:
There was a WTF from Desmond, though.

I got the game yesterday, havent played much yet, still very early on but I must say I love Haytham who I believe is

Spoiler:
Conners father
, also can't wait to see how the main Desmond plot unfolds.

Just finished most of the stuff in Boston, as well as Sequence 6, and the Tea Party mission in said sequence was a damn lot of fun to play.

Spoiler:
Yeah, Haytham is Connor's father.

I just beat the game.

Spoiler:
Well, that was a depressing game. It's not a happy ending for any of the main characters. Apparently, there's a lot of fan rage over how it all ended. People are saying it's Mass Effect 3 all over again. It turns out that Desmonds entire bloodline was manipulated by Juno into fulfilling her master plan of being unleashed on the world. Altiar, Ezio, Connor, and Desmond were her puppets the entire time. The second she was released, Desmond was killed. Desmond never even got to reproduce. His bloodline was just cut off. She stops the end of the world, only so she can enslave humanity. Turns out she was the big bad guy of her civilization.

I liked the ending, but I was hoping Desmond would end it all a bit happier. Instead, he had a sad and crappy death filled life just like all his other assassin ancestors and every assassin they they knew. On top of that, he managed to live about half as long as his ancestors. It's like anyone who chooses the Assassin life completely screws over their lives and the lives of their entire bloodline.

It seems like the Templar's lead more enjoyable lives, and the majority of them probably get to live their entire lives in prosperous conditions. Hatham got killed by Connor, but his life leading up to that seemed enjoyable and fulfilling. If not for Connor, his plan would have been realized and everything would have been gravy. Connor, on the other hand, got screwed at every turn of his journey. Everyone he cared about ended up dead. His entire mission to save his people failed, and they all got killed or took part in the Trail of Tears. It feels like Juno absolutely screwed him.

It's weird that you can still play him after Desmond is dead. There's someone talking to whoever is controlling Connor explaining a series of steps they are taking to calibrate the Animus. I'm guessing it's whoever is operating the animus controls. This all confirms that there will be a sequel. There's a god roaming the earth looking to enslave humanity and the Templar's are still going strong. Connor is still relatively young at the end of the game. On top of that, Juno told Connor that he had accomplished great things, and that he will again. That pretty much confirms that Connor isn't done (I'm guessing his story will be continued in Assassins Creed: Brotherhood style side games).

Also, there were cool little comments throughout the game hinting at sequels. Shawn talked to Desmond about experimenting with the Animus after this whole end of the world ordeal was done. He said he wanted to try going back 80,000 years+ to the era of the first civilization. Desmond told him that it sounded good. I'm guessing that's going to be Assassins Creed 4. They will probably go through this prior society in an effort to find a way to stop Juno

...Well. Beat the game.

That sucked.

I haven't gotten the game yet.

But...it sucked?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!? NOOOOOOO!!!

Well I hear Liberation is good at least.

It's pretty good so far, just finished sequence 3.

Sequence 3 end spoiler:

Spoiler:
really surprised me, the templar twist. Nice seeing a not black-and white portrayal for once in this series

Well

Spoiler:
apparently folks on the internet are complaining about the ending like ME3. The rest of the game is good from what I've heard

The game doesn't suck.

Its not a happy ending with all loose endings tied up...which no obe should have expected from this series anyway.

The end, in my opinion, was not terribly satisfying.

It mostly served to keep the series open to more entries.

AC1 didn't have a black-and-white portrayal of Templars, well, not all of them anyway.

Beat the game. I thought the setting were great. And Haytham is probably my favorite AC character to date. Sadly the rest of the game wasn't quite the same. For example, Connor was rather static and hard to relate to. It was good, but I didn't have a sense of awe like I did in ACII and Brotherhood.

Spoiler:
Anyway the ending was god awful. Having a player be a pawn is fine... Having them be one for five games isn't. Very disappointed. Seriously, it's as bad if not worse than Mass Effect 3's ending. And what's the point of introducing a choice and showing us a few minute cut scene if we don't even get to choose?

It doesn't help matters that Connor's story is a revenge plot, but not as fleshed-out or deep as Ezio's.

Spoiler:
The final sequence, with Connor limping slowly but resolutely after Charles Lee, and the end with the two of them sitting at the table and Connor slowly mustering the energy to kill him, was not fun. Whereas Ezio decided that revenge is a pointless cause, Connor's tale goes the exact opposite way, with him pursuing revenge to any end and not even feeling satisfaction from it.
And then you come out of the Animus...

I can only hope a fresh storyline will provide new breath next year.

So basically, judging by the spoilers in the thread and what GK's telling me, the only thing that's going to bug me about the ending is

Spoiler:
if I'm unable to skip it, because I can't stand the Desmond sequences in these games and have absolutely zero interest in the modern-day storyline. He dies? Good riddance! It means I don't have to deal with this boring, annoying, whiny ass anymore.

They should really just focus solely on the historical sides of things.

Gah, so many spoilers I want to read but dont want to read...

I know I've always had a bit of an exact opposite view of things than many others, that the Desmond stuff is my favourite part etc. So here I'm hoping to get to see much more Desmond centered stuff at the end.

Also, away on a business trip, can't continue playing until Friday 🙁

I am enjoying the multiplayer. It's basically Revelations, but refined. The presentation of everything is really top-notch and classy.

ZGR review.

Not too favorable.

GOd this annoys the hell of me now, where's that one fun minigame we played early on in the game? On the ship we got to try two minigames when were you took opponents pieces by moving your pieces towards or away from them (the fun one), and the game that is basically advanced tic-tac-toe (boring). However I am now at sequence 5 and have yet to find the first one again, everyone play the ****ings boring one...
