Bryan Singer's doing it, so unlikely.

I agree PR.
The only thing that gives me a remote sliver of hope is this:

what x 3 could have been

Maybe some of that will carry over. Maybe not.
I just cross my fingers.

Honestly I'm amazed, seeing as over the two movies they basically shat all over him. Horrible screen time, a bastardisation of his relationship with Jean to first, make him the woman in the relationship, and second, to overplay her attraction to Logan.

It would have been nice, but I can't help thinking it would have been two movies too late.

What the Original movies did to Cyclops was a CBM CRIME!

I wouldn't assume anything based on Singer taking over though. Everything was already pretty much in place for this movie (in terms of plot and story) before he took over.

I'm amazed that we have 5 movie with the title "X Men" in them that have little to nothing to do with Cyclops.
I do love this part though:

“The one idea that I loved, that I really wanted to do, was that Cyclops would build the Danger Room. Cyclops felt guilty, he felt that because the X-Men were too weak, they weren’t strong enough, they weren’t fast enough, that was the reason Jean died. If they were a little bit better at fighting, then she might still be alive. It was all about this guilt he had about her death and so he built the Danger Room to train them to be better. But in the end it really was about him not being able to let go of her, so that causes all the chaos and disruption in the movie. But in the end it’s about him letting her go.”

“Ultimately she kind of becomes that cosmic force that Phoenix is known to be, she choose to leave Earth and become a god, or at least a higher level of intelligence, and she goes into the cosmos possibly to kick-start life somewhere else… The final scene for me would have been her telling Cyclops or her telling the X-Men ‘I’ll be watching.’ Essentially she becomes a god.”

Perhaps PR is right that it may have been a little too late but I would rather have one film which redeems the character,or at least gives him a point rather than 5 that make no use of him.

Oh well.............Maybe in 10 years will get another reboot that at least gets his character right.

As long as it's David Hayter's original Dark Phoenix X-Men 3 script. If any story was to redeem the X-Men and mutants in the public eye anyway, it's not The Last Stand, it's the X-Factor portion of Fall of the Mutants and Cyclops definitely plays a big role in that.

Anyway, I just thought of this: Allison Pill as Rachel Summers and Danny Trejo as Nimrod (Jaime). Thoughts?

Well Cyclops was supposed to play a big part in the Phoenix story, and yet the movies had him play a completely useless part in that.

Cyclops was destroyed by these X-Men movies and that's not going to change anytime soon. This sequel is going to center on Magento and even if Cyclops is in it it's almost guaranteed that even Wolverine's Cameo will play a much larger role.

They might surprise us

but i'm not holding my breath.

In almost every story about the Phoenix and Jean, Cyclops is the main "non Phoenix" character. Stupid movies...

Haven't surprised me with First Class I, don't see how it could be different this time.

To be fair though, First Class couldn't have Cyclops being set like 30-40 years prior to X-Men 1 & 2, with no time travel involved.

The ****? Lame.

...Well ****.

A big yes for Marsden so long as his role will have significance. If it's just an accumulation of 10 minutes of BS then no.
Berry. No. Just no. She looks too tame. Storm is an amazon. Wild and free.

I don't want Marsden.

well it'll give halle something to do instead of fighting with her ex 😄 😆 😆

as for marsden, i really don't want him either but if they really do the days of future past story arc, then its understandable

Pretty unlikely looking at the history of his role in the X-men movies.

Same.

Halle just seems like a bad idea. Didn't she have fits about needing a bigger role in X3? Keep her out of it and introduce a younger Storm, preferably with a mohawk.
