I had assumed he went kamakaze with Betty blowing shyte to kingdom come except for Umar who apparently tanked it. But I could be wrong as I never really spent a great deal of time breaking down the sequence. I'm only expressing what I got from a cold reading of the book.

As for the op, you know how this things go by now. Spend 15 pages arguing about nothing but the peripheral issues.

Hulk and Betty collide. Not a single scratch on them while the entire time, everyone is melting.

Betty and Hulk are in a different stance...still fighting while everyone is melting. Hulk and Betty doesn't have a scratch on them and they are in the heart of the blast.

This right here clears it up. Umar and Hulk are standing/flying...Hulk waiting for everyone to come back to life....this is when the wish is made. Umar states she didn't wish everyone back, its stated on panel hulk did. I have never seen a dead man make a wish...have you?

^ Exactly true. If everyone died Umar would have been part of that everyone. Dying was not part of the wish. The Hulk could have never wished them back if he was dead. He was just having a sadomasochistic moment, and having a ball bringing the scum of the universe back to life after being the cause of their destruction.

The blast that supposedly killed them, Hulk was in the heart of this fighting while everyone else was melted. What killed the Hulk, a boulder since we see that the blast or the planet destruction didn't do it.
