Low power levels? Lol.

Reed is a techno-gadget-god, Sue fights Celestials, and the kids are walking plot devices.

Aside from Reed, the other original members of the F4 (Ben, Sue, Johnny) historically HAVE had pretty low power levels, in comparison to many other 'mainstream' teams...

At the Image Expo earlier this week, Jonathan Hickman let slip that he would be departing Fantastic Four, FF, Ultimate Comics: Ultimates and S.H.I.E.L.D. later this year. The news came as something of a shock to fans who are now speculating that he will be taking over The Avengers from Brian Michael Bendis. Whether that is in fact the case is obviously unknown at this point, although the writer has confirmed when exactly he'll be leaving Marvel's First Family behind - Fantastic Four #611 and FF #23.

Talking to Marvel, he said: "I always had an end point in mind, but along the way I really fell in love with writing Marvel’s First Family and I also had all these dangling bits to clean up, so I agreed—[and] wanted—to stay on. Then all the gears started turning on all the [Avengers Vs. X-Men] stuff and what comes after and it just became obvious that October would be a good time to hop off."

While his work on the books (which has included killing Johnny Storm and making Spider-Man a part of the team) hasn't been to everyone's liking, Hickman is happy to look back on the experience as well as what comes next. "Personally, I just hope that I continue to evolve as a creator—that FF was better than the things I wrote before [it], and that what I write after FF will be the best thing I’ve done. We’ll see."

Damn. I'm curious as to who will take over F4 after Hickman and whether or not Hickman will take over the Avengers line.

Well done, Hickman. Well done. salute

I don't know about that. They may have been weak upon conception (especially Sue), but Sue has been able to send Hulk through walls and contain nuclear explosions with minimal strain for a loooong time. The FF strikes me as more powerful than, say, Whedon's Astonishing X-Men team sans Emma.

Indeed. 👆

Next arc will be about Doom begging for help 😉

Man, F4 is all over the place. In one issue we have Reed/Franklin dealing with cosmic-type issues. In the next issue we are back to earth dealing with Wakanda and Egyptian Gods.

umm

Is that a bad thing? Its still under the same author right?

I really like the new issue art style. It made Storm & Sue more busty than normal! 🙂

I guess there should of been a transitional issue between the two? Maybe a few months has pass since Franklin fought the Celetials etc..?

Its a little weird but we are probably close to the deaths of the future franklin and valerie. But I think one comic is the fantastic four and the other is the Future Foundation which of course means their stories will crossover with each issue.

Some kind of transition would've made it a little more seamless..

Don't really care though. Hickman is doing an amazing job with F4/FF.

Both arcs were enjoyable imo, but three panels to pass from one to another would've been ideal. Nice depiction of Wakanda too, we are sorely lacking a BP mini -hope he joins FF, the Defenders or something-.

^ It was weird because not even the "Previously on F4" summary page mentioned any of the recent happenings. All it mentioned were events from Doomwar.

Kinda bizarre, imo.

If it wasn't for the new artist one would thing it was a filler episode done beforehand 😛

Hickman's final issue of F4 was excellent. Man, I'm going to miss his work. 🙁

Doom really knows how to **** up a good thing.

To be fair, it is Doom.

But great story, I take my hat off for Hickman, he didn't leave because of lack of greatness.
