Oh, I like this standard:
Opportunity: Zimmerman had a gun.
Intent: Martin though Zimmerman wanted to kill him.
Capability: Zimmerman had a gun.

So then Zimmerman killed a person who was legally defending himself. Do you not find it perverse that if Zimmerman had non-fatally shot Martin then he wouldn't have been justified because Martin would be able to say "I felt threatened"?

Zimmerman didn't have the intent until he was forced to defend himself.

you the sock focus was warning me about?

Don't listen to focus, he's just mad because he gets embarrassed on a daily basis. I did not agree with Ush's politics and he overstepped his boundaries on the star wars subforum, and decided to ban a bunch of us. We no longer pay attention to him there. I had about 500 of these made so Ush can spend most of his days trying to ban them, or stay off the forums and act like a moderator.

so anyway, you'll see "restricted" under it's avatar shortly. and then another mysterious stranger will happen to appear and with the same chip on the same shoulder.

You yourself defined intent as based on belief.

Just going off the Florida law that Oliver North posted several pages back. ie if a person felt there was danger or if it was reasonable to feel that they were in danger.

Not by Florida law as posted by Oliver North several pages ago.

This is actually how the defense attorney phrased it, citing case precedence where the judges defined self-defense under those terms. I don't think it is technically a law, so much as a set of precedence for defining what is or isn't a valid self-defense claim.

That's how a common law system works, isn't it?

I think so, I just mean there is probably no "self defense" law that outlines the "reasonable threat" standard.

dadudemon, you dumbass, Larry Elder did not cite that 1994 study when he said:

[Myth] 2) Blacks are convicted at higher rates and given longer sentences than whites for the same crime.

Not true. Differences in conviction and sentencing rates by race are due to differences in the gravity of the criminal offenses, prior records or other legal variables. A 1994 Justice Department survey of felony cases in the country’s 75 largest urban areas actually found lower felony prosecution rates for blacks than whites and that blacks were less likely to be found guilty at trial.

I searched and I did not turn up what Larry Elder was talking about. I would just as well consider it bullshit until proven otherwise.

Yeah, you're a punk, Dadude. crackers

Follow-up Documentary on the Trayvon Martin shooting. Includes a TON of information involving the case including uncovering a hoax perpetuated by Crump (the lawyer) and Trayvon's mom - the GF that took the stand was not Trayvon's GF.

If you have 2 hours, watch the whole thing. It's got stupid sound effects and the guy who made it is a goofball and a bit socially awkward. Also, he wastes time with really stupid side stories sometimes.

Trayvon Martin's GF was Diamond Eugene. I won't spoil the documentary because it has a pretty cool twist.

YouTube video

Oh, also, it discusses why this case got off the rails and they stuck with the "wrong" GF.
