Not with Luffy, because Luffy's is basically taijutsu enhanced by stretchiness. If he grabbed him he might be able to drain the devil effect, but that's Luffy's actual fist there.
The others, though? When they actually produce an element from the fruit, that's really no different than doing a lighting/sand/quake jutsu.
Heck, when done in the air, it's *entirely* fruit effect in something that doesn't even naturally quake.
Regardless, equivelance doesn't really apply here.
I'd say it does. There's even similar OP effects that can shut down fruit (generally when done to the user directly, darkness fruit shutting down powers, but still).
I am not saying Whitebeard has to move to beat Nagato. He doesn't need to so much as shift his feet.He throws a punch. This proceeds to kill Nagato.
It shouldn't. The quakes aren't focused at a distance. Nagato has Azura path armor, Deva path gravity-pulse, and Preta path absorption.
His quakes are powerful environmental-effect range, but his blows are only one-hit kill things when he's actually hitting you.
The only people he took out at a distance were those that couldn't handle the ground opening up beneath them or the like. Every time he took out someone tough, that was because he either punched them or hit them with his halberd.
At a distance, even *without* Preta absorption, he'll wreck havoc but won't be doing any one-hit kills with Nagato.
