Luke Cage and Thing vs Namor

Well, if we want to use only AvX and simultaneously throw out everything which occurred before it as it "no longer counts",

which, as i said in that other thread, is the most assinine kind of thinking i can imagine....

that said, on land ben has ALWAYS been a good match for namor. add luke here and team takes it. ben has given hulk a good fight any number of times, he's been said to be stronger than simon, has beaten a mind controlled simon and even went 1on1 for a prolong length of time with the asgardian destroyer. not to mention his showing against champion.

ben has some great feats out there. beating namor is certainly not this huge outlier feat. even underwater--while not the way i'd say the fight would go most of the time--it shouldn't be regarded as this uber low showing for namor. what keeps it from simply being a high feat for ben? and it's the height of stupidity to think namor has suddenly 'regressed' in the eyes of 'marvel'. it was one creative groups interpretation. maybe they just wanted to give ben a spotlight for once. in any event, we CERTAINLY do NOT throw aside all that has come before based on a most 'recent' depiction. that is both dumb and possibly disastrous. it is also likely against the forum rules.

The ever lovin', blue eyed Thing wins. It's nice to see him looking like a champ in AvX.

Cage's punch should have zero effect, but then again cage did hurt nefaria,no?

And Ethan Edwards...

Namor should be able to beat both of they clowns. AVX is clearly PIS. Namor has defeated Ben with two blows in the past. To have him defeated in the water by Ben is just disrespectful to the character. To have Namor job like that is just a damned shame. Shame on Marvel and it's BS writers.

Namor

Even with the Avengers movie out, what happened to all the X love? Why are the Avengers generally looking better than the Xmen?

Doesn't the Xmen have the most rabid fanbase of any Marvel property except Spidey?

The ONLY way this crap would make sense is if Unit did something to their (the X-Mens) powers. Remember it did encounter them BEFORE all this went down. Maybe it will be explained that Unit weakened them for some odd reason. Because otherwise............

Namor.

Only if we ignore his entire history. Losing to the thing and struggling with cage were just low showings.

Namor and thing have always been about equal. Add in cage and team gets the majority.

^True but Namor has been shown at least a tiny notch above Thing.
Also add in Namor's speed and mobility and flight.
Adding in Luke Cage makes this a very good fight that can go either way.

The OP did well in thinking of a fight so evenly matched.

Thing has never been equal to Namor. Only after Namor has been out of the water for a while did Thing have a chance to beat him. It's not even just about strength. With Namor's quickness and manueverability, he has always been a better fighter than Thing. How many times has Thing been taken out by the Hulk? Namor should be able to be Thing and Cage at the same time.

Well if we use current characters only then the team can win.
If we use current characters weighed 50% with the rest of their history then this fight can go either way.
If we use their history weighed equally then Namor wins.
If we use characters at their best showings then Namor wins.
