Cross Genre Match: Robin vs Shikamaru

Scenario: Gotham City. 2 miles apart. Shikamaru is granted full knowledge of Gotham City (as much as Tim knows). Time is currently 5 pm and the sun will be setting at 7 pm. Robin is not allowed to simply wait it out until night time. They each have been granted extensive files on the other combatant and have 15 minutes of prep with which to strategize - no other type of prep work allowed.

Robin has been mentally fooled into thinking that Shikamaru has killed Batman, Nightwing, and Batgirl. He has all his standard equipment x 3. 3 x the explosives, gadgets, and weapons.

Shikamaru has been mentally fooled into thinking that Robin has killed Asuma, Choji, and Ino.

Who Wins?

I think the guy with magic powers has something of a significant edge here.

I mean, even though Shikamaru isn't the most physically focused of ninja, *every* ninja has superhuman speed, strength, and toughness, and Shikamaru can travel by doing 40-foot leaps between trees.

Throw in his actual specific power of freezing people in place with his shadow, or attacking with it, and it's a rather significant edge to the Nara.

I gave Robin extra resources to make up for that fact. Even still, I see this as a battle of strategy - both are known for being the smartest of the young guys, weakest of their peers (relative to their own peers), and yet the most dangerous. I think a case can be made for both characters which is why I thought it would be a good debate topic.

I would say Shikamaru is more powerful and even smarter than Tim it would only be a matter of time before Shikamaru traps or kills Robin

With prep, Shikamaru is taking dat ass.

Shikamaru is decent at prep, but the supernatural abilities and enhanced physical attributes give him the edge over Tim, IMO.

one the shadow possession lands the fight is over, and as you can see above, shikamaru's shadow just has to intersect with robin's for that to happen

This might be more even if only Robin had prep and knowledge of the opponent.

Robin could always ask Superboy to take care of business.

That's what I'd do, but I'm a much better strategist than Tim.

Interesting that so many people feel that Shikamaru would win. I agree his strategic abilities are top notch but his energy stamina is shit.

I sort of agree, but it is Shikamaru's shadow abilities that make me think he will win more often than not.

He'd have to hit Shikamaru with it though, and while he's not the best ninja, he's a Chuunin and had to do a bit to get to that level. And that's not even factoring that he's one of, if not the best tactician in the Narutoverse on the good guys side.

Shikamaru is basically a less skilled Robin(at least h2h wise) with superior stats and the shadow BS.
