God this forum can be infuriating at times. So you read a couple of pages in the latest Nova series and think you fully know the character and understand his motivations huh? There's a loooong history between he and Rider. Learn about that and you'll learn why he CHOOSES to allow himself to lose.Any who, Sphinx turns Thanos into purple flatulence, leaving him to stink up the galaxy for all of eternity.
Ok, I will give you a little taste of your hopeless battle against Thanos. First things first. Sphinx losing in one arc doesn't make him a loser. Him losing over and over again does. Not only does he himself admit on panel how foolish him dabbling with the timestream make his frail body on panel but the sheer folly of his younger self who dares defy him. The best part is the older one triumphs through his champions ( I mean who else knows better on what defeat tastes like other than the Sphinx himself).
The Sphinx triumphs and is amped by not only one but two ka stones. He's soundly defeated with a few issues and despite his heavy amp is more than a blurb. He's not big time. He might be in terms of Nova but big time is the stuff teams and universes clash with. I remember the time the fool actually challenged Galactus and was stuck in an endless time loop. He's stupid. He's mindnumbingly stupid. Thanos knows what he's capable of and knows his enemies as well.
Thanos is the guy who saves Galactus' bacon when the situation arises. Sphinx is just a two to three parter to the small timers. No shame in that really but comparing him to Thanos is folly.

Win and loss hardly matter in such kind of debates.
Hahaha. Now a real quote.
Winning isn’t everything; it’s the only thing.
Remember these words well.
