Marcus shoots him in the face.

Gordon's a badass and a hell of a fighter, but he is ultimately just a scientist, and all of his enemies were basically just fodder with an idiot ball. Marcus does not **** around, and it's heavily implied over the course of the Gears franchise that in addition to his decades of experience, he's basically a latent military genius.

Marcus throws a frag. Gordon then uses the Gravity Gun to return it.

Gordon's shields proceed to absorb the attack.

Gordon proceeds to blow Fenix apart.

Beam bounces off of cover Marcus is hiding behind.

Gordon stands around with perplexed look on his face, not knowing how to kill an opponent that doesn't stand out in the open.

Marcus blows his head off.

Actually I am pretty sure that the cover is also vaporised.

Gordon Wins because he is a Savior and MIT.
