They are fighting to the death in a forest that neither has been to before. Neither has any armor of any kind. All they know about each other is that they are trying to kill one another. The fight starts at midday, and will last as long as it has to.

I seriously don't know. A tomahawk used the way the Mohicans used them is a wonderful weapon to force a katana out of the way whilst dealing a deathblow via knife. Whereas the katana is generally two handed.

And considering Daniel Day Lewis can just hunt Cruise stealthily through such an environment gives him a huge advantage.
