before watchmen

anyone really reading this? any thoughts? i'm undecided as to whether i want to pick these up or not.... seems almost sacrilegous....

I might look at the first one see how it is.

All I care about is a good story.

Of course I didn't read the Watchmen till a few years ago so it's nothing sacred to me as well.

when it first came out i was too young to really appreciate it for what it was. i read it, or parts of it, but i reread it for the first time just a couple years back. smarta$$. 😐

I was just trying to say it doesn't carry the same emotional weight with me that it does some people so if before watchmen is good I'll read it.

The problem I see with this, is that apparently several minis downright suck.

the ozy issue has been far and away the superior book in this series so far-- the first issue was really good. the doctor manhattan mini has still yet to be released, but i'm pretty sure it will be exceptional as well. everything else has been god awful.

...though i will say that i have been enjoying the 'crimson corsair' backstory that's featured in the final 2 pages of every 'before watchmen' comic. it's pretty fun for what it is. however, that story can be read each week on the dc website for free-- so i don't even need to waste my time downloading entire crappy comics just to read those last few pages. win.

They range in quality so far, but overall they are at least decent. Lots of them are pretty good.

Silk Spectre is good along with Ozy. Nite Owl has been boring, same with Comedia. Can't wait for Ros's mini.

I'm enjoying pretty much all of them. My least favorite is probably Nite Owl.

My least favorite is Dr. Manhattan because that one seems the least original.

The Silhouette is quickly becoming my favorite character though.

I'm waiting until I have every issue and then I'll read it.
