Edit: And Lucky, and the wtf the Cosmic Fetus Collective is in the grand scheme of things

With 72 pages, I'm sure it will.

The final issue is slated for release on November 27th:

How good are the feats of the characters portrayed in these series? Good enough to warrant a battleboard fight with legit skyfather and Abstract level beings like Odin and the LT?

Not really, no.

Tbh, the best 'feats' in this series are so abstract that it's hard to even quantify them.

Well, it looks like the finale issue has been pushed back to December 11th:

Jesus. facepalm

What an absolutely superb conclusion.

The finale issue had an extremely heavy metaphysical/textual aspect about it(which I'm sure we all could have guessed), but it was executed perfectly and tied-up all loose ends very nicely. It was worth the year+ wait. 👆

It happened?

Guess I'll have to go find it...

It did. 👆

Wow.

On the heavy metaphysical aspect, I couldn't agree more. On the tying up all the loose ends perfectly, I don't know. All of the questions that I had going into the finale were left unexplained, but maybe it's better that way.

Did you enjoy it?

You know, I have no idea.

Minor discussion related spoiler tags incoming:

Spoiler:
The whole time I was wondering who I was rooting for, if you will. What was everyone's relationship at that point? Was Basil a bad guy? A good guy? A mere observer? Nickelhead? He seemed like a bad guy running a cult when we first meet him, and then he's all enlightened or some shit and I don't know what I'm supposed to make of him.

Then there's the cosmic fetus collective, who I was hoping would be expanded upon more. They're kind of forcing humanity into the next step of evolution.

Edward (who has some cosmic awareness) doesn't go to Mars because, as he says, something of cosmic significance is going to happen.
This thing that's going to happen...I know it's going to be important. it's going to mean something to humanity...such as it is...but whatever it is, I think I want to see it...with human eyes."
To then have the fetus collective show up and, as Edward puts it, "I think some of them are trash talking humanity".

Makes you wonder if this whole thing is actually a good thing, right? Is the fetus collective just a bunch of douchebags?

I dunno, it's a thinker.

Where Nickelhead is concerned: we already saw his 'super-enlightenment' manifest during issues 35-36(he stepped outside Iboga and had a chat with him in the 'real world', if you recall)... The journey he led Adam on during this issue was just a continuation of that.

As for the other stuff you mentioned: I think it was intended to be left as somewhat of a mystery-- and imo, it fits the subject matter better that way. That's what I meant when I said it was wrapped up nicely.

Nickelhead's enlightenment didn't show until this issue, before that he had just stepped outside reality. Given how he had surprised even Iboga with that stunt, I got the impression that they were more peers (in a strange sense) than anything else.

If anything I think I expected Nickehead to come back and be even more Nickelhead-y, rather than enlightened.

Imo, it was made clear in issues 35-36 that Nickelhead's newly-acquired universal insight is what allowed him to transcend the parameters of the comic book/fictional universe all together.

"It seems I've become addicted to insight. I can't get enough of it. Now I have the means to inquire... The means to explore... It's all starting to make sense from a story point of view... What comes after a great conflict? Where does it all go next?":
http://i.imgur.com/JDMA648.jpg

"I am the perfect antenna for an imperfect transition. The questions continue to orbit in close proximity to me... But the answers--each and every one of them--are out there. All it takes is some diligent listening... The willingness to hear what the universe has to tell us.":
http://i.imgur.com/P0dX2Pd.jpg

"From nowhere and everywhere, an audible inhale... The mixture of knowledge and ambition produces a total wave of pure expansiveness [...] For Friedrich Nickelhead it is the final step across the threshold of understanding. And when the tide rolls back... What remains could only be described as... Universal serenity.":
http://i.imgur.com/sakOK9R.jpg

"Okay, I admit it... I'm a little weak in the knees. Orgasmic epiphanies will do that.":
http://i.imgur.com/dNhHcm3.jpg

"This is it. This is where I transcend all that I was.":
http://i.imgur.com/lay3CZy.jpg

"There's a crude brilliance at work! A simultaneous event-kill! The white-hot light of creation arcing through me! I'm a galactic lightning rod!":
http://i.imgur.com/MnELlrg.jpg

Insight/enlightenment/awareness on that level is what ultimately allowed Nickelhead to pierce through the veil of the fictional universe, and enter the 'real world' with Iboga:

(Heck, not even Iboga knew how Nickelhead was able to step outside him at all... Let alone transport him to the RW against his will.)

So yeah, Nick's interaction with Adam(and his heir) in this issue was just a continuation of what we already knew about his most current state of being, imo. He is arguably one of the most enlightened characters in all comicdom.
