Who was the better batman movie villain?

Joker

Bane

In terms of popularity or effectiveness?

For me both would be Bane.

Although I think most people would prefer the Joker.

my bad should've made it more clear....let's say in term of character effectiveness, cunning, ruthlessness and overall badass'ness lol.

Bane was the bigger threat. I liked Joker more though.

Tough call as on paper Bane isn't as interesting a character as the Joker is but he was just so good in TDKR!!!

Joker basically laid the ground work for Bane to work off of. Without Joker's involvement, it's hard to see if Bane would have been nearly effective.

That said, Bane didn't screw around at all.
