Superman had a bad three years under writers like Robinson and McDuffie. He was due some respect from his peers.
Aquaman is supposed to take crap; that's one of the biggest parts of his new arc. Johns is building towards something, though.

I hope you're right. Always liked AM, he got dissed too much for too long. I think the character could be written SO much better than he has been historically.
Maybe this is a new day for AM.
